Case study 1

Projects

Our task was to replace an old and non – compliance lift with an up-to date solution. Chase designed a new lift in conjunction with the client that would maximise the platform size and accessibility of the lift whilst working within the space constraints given.

The lift sits to one side of the main entrance, this giving problems with the ramp intruding into a walkway. In this case it was not possible to get a fully-compliant product – a compliant ramp gradient would result in possible tripping hazard for able-bodied people and dispensation was sought by all parties in order to agree a solution. It should be noted that in a lot of situations it is not possible to meet every small point of standards and building and planning officers usually take a pragmatic and reasonable stance on variances, whilst ensuring safety is not compromised.

The listed entrance hall meant that special care needed to be taken on installation.
